Our Story
Life before The Plant Place
It started life as Allts nursery under the Lees family. A local business that grew plants such as Chrysanthemums as well as vegetables and tomatoes for the local regional markets.
By the late 80s our current owner, Simon, went to work for Allts nursery. This is where his passion for plants began. Allts nursery operated on the exact spot that our plant area now sits. There are still markings on our plant area which outline where this greenhouse used to be.
A passion for plants, a total dedication to customer service and a desire to start something new was the initial foundations for the beginning of The Plant Place Garden Centre which was founded in 1998 by our current owners Simon and Diane.
Here is Diane helping out at the (then new) garden centre on a weekend when she wasn't studying at university.

Since then, the family business has blossomed into a remarkable garden centre with driven staff, lots of amazing visitors and an exceptional range of quality plants. In recent years, we have focused on growing our houseplant department and as a result, we have become the number-one destination for houseplants in the North West.
We strive to create an environment that brings smiles to the faces of our customers and team members alike. Our place is your place. Grow with us.
